Painting - Seascape, Driving Wind and Waves

Driving Wind and Waves

acrylic on canvas
36cm x 34cm

It had been raining all morning but by early afternoon the rain had stopped and breaks were appearing in the clouds. However a strong wind continued to blow, forcing the waves to break far out at sea.

On the beach the noise of the wind and the waves was overpowering. I sheltered behind a groyne to paint, so the area I occupied was strangely calm and quiet. But paper was blowing all around me and as soon as I stood up the full force of the wind hit me.
